ICat is the blog for the English Cataloguing department at Cambridge University Library. We catalogue books received on legal deposit, mainly in English language. Hundreds of books arrive each week (and hundreds more as e-books) and this has been going on for hundreds of years (but mainly since the 19th century). Our blog aims to keep people up to date with what’s coming in to the library and provide snapshots of books received in the 19th and 20th centuries.
